Short answer: verify the certificate, the person, and add-versus-remove scope first
Start with the exact PR or RERC certificate, its holder, conditions, current dependant schedule and the person whose status is proposed to change. The live WORC library identifies RV37a as the variation form for PR/RERC dependants. The form requires one variation type to be selected: add or remove. Where both types are requested, it says separate applications and fees are required. Do not combine unrelated family changes into one narrative or assume one approved dependant proves another person qualifies.
| Control first | Record | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Certificate identity | Holder name, certificate type and number, grant date, current conditions, authorised occupation where relevant, and current dependant schedule. | That every PR, RERC, investment-residence or family route uses the same variation form or evidence test. |
| Person identity | Legal name, birth date, nationality, relationship, present country and residence, passport, civil-record chain, and current immigration position. | That a child, spouse, parent, student or household member is automatically an accompanying dependant. |
| Variation type | One add request or one remove request, reason, effective-date question, evidence list, fee control and submission file. | That adding and removing people can be bundled without separate route and fee confirmation. |
Separate RV37a from RAD and from a fresh dependant application
The current RV37a package says it is for a person who already holds PR or an RERC and wishes to add or remove a non-Caymanian dependant. It also says not to use RV37a when the underlying PR/RERC application is still pending; the current RAD accompanying-dependant supplement is the separate pending/new-application route for the qualifying forms it names. Freeze the route decision before paying, requesting sensitive records or promising an arrival date.
| File position | Likely form question | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Existing PR/RERC already issued | Does the live RV37a route apply to this exact certificate and dependant change? | The certificate category, conditions and current WORC instructions still control. |
| Qualifying application not yet decided | Does RAD accompany or supplement the current application instead? | Do not file RV37a merely because the proposed dependant is urgent. |
| Different residence or work route | Is another application, variation, dependant or notification process required? | Do not force work-permit, independent-means, status or other certificate changes into RV37a. |
| Surviving-spouse RERC | Does the live restriction on adding a new non-Caymanian spouse apply? | Obtain current route-specific advice before filing or making family commitments. |
Reconcile the mixed RV37a revisions and current fee materials
The public RV37a package is internally mixed: its application body is marked WORC/DEP VAR (2021/01) RV37a, while the checklist is marked WORC/DEP VAR (2026/05) CKLRV37a. The live forms page also tells applicants to review the updated MCEI fee schedule before payment. Treat the live library, current checklist, current legislation, written WORC instructions and reviewed advice as the filing controls; do not quietly elevate an older saved body page above newer materials.
- Save the download date, live source URL, body revision, checklist revision and file hash with the working copy.
- Record any form-field or checklist conflict before completing the final version.
- The current checklist states a CI$500 non-refundable administrative fee; confirm the amount and accepted payment route immediately before filing.
- Keep later dependant, issue and repatriation fee questions separate because the form says some fees are payable only if approved and does not publish one universal total.
- If WORC publishes a replacement form or instruction, preserve the superseded copy and rebuild the filing checklist rather than mixing versions.
Build the holder and current-dependant baseline
RV37a asks for the holder's identity, nationality, birth details and employment position, then asks whether non-Caymanian dependants are already attached to the PR/RERC. Create a before-and-after schedule so the application, certificate, household, school, insurer, employer and financial records all refer to the same people and relationships.
| Baseline lane | Keep | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Holder | Current passport, certificate, contact details, employment and employer record, address, spouse/civil-partner record where relevant. | Are names, dates, employer details and certificate conditions consistent? |
| Current dependants | Name, gender as the form records it, birth date, nationality, relationship, accompanying status and certificate link. | Is anyone shown by the household or another document but absent from the certificate schedule? |
| Proposed change | Person, add/remove selection, reason, requested timing, travel or school context, current status and evidence owner. | What event makes the variation necessary, and which professional or authority question remains open? |
| After-position | Proposed dependant schedule, household, support, accommodation, insurance, school and emergency-contact record. | What must not be treated as effective until written approval and an updated certificate record exist? |
Adding a child: birth records, parentage, custody, consent, care, and privacy
A child-addition file can require more than a birth certificate. The RV37a body and checklist raise legal custody, custodial agreement, maternal contact, paternity evidence, household, guardian and childcare questions in specified circumstances. The wording is not perfectly aligned across the package, so do not order DNA testing, draft custody material or disclose a family-law file from this guide alone. Confirm the exact current evidence requirement and protect the child's privacy.
- Preserve the certified birth record, legal-name trail, passport and evidence connecting the child to the holder and any relevant spouse or civil partner.
- If custody, residence, consent, guardianship, parentage, separation or a court order is relevant, create an issue list before sharing the full file.
- For an unmarried father, reconcile the body-form custody and original-DNA wording against the current checklist and written professional/WORC instruction.
- Document planned Cayman care, school, medical, insurance, housing and emergency arrangements without turning private child records into a general attachment bundle.
- Do not treat a parent signature, DNA result, custody document or school plan as an immigration approval by itself.
Adult dependant, student, parent, and other-relative evidence lanes
The current RV37a checklist separates adult dependants from parents or other adult dependants. Depending on the category, it calls for civil records, a full-time school letter, employment evidence, police clearance, a medical declaration cover letter, financial-resource evidence, health insurance, dependency affidavit and references. Build only the lane that applies to the person and current instruction; do not infer that one document list establishes eligibility.
| Adult lane | Potential evidence from the current checklist | Guardrail |
|---|---|---|
| Adult child or other over-18 dependant | Certified civil records, marriage record if relevant, full-time study letter where applicable, employment letters, police clearance and medical cover letter. | Age, study, employment or financial help does not by itself decide dependant status. |
| Parent or other adult dependant | Relationship evidence, dependency affidavit, both parties' financial resources, health insurance, references, police clearance and medical evidence. | Do not describe a person as wholly or substantially dependent without accurate evidence and reviewed wording. |
| Overseas records | Issuer, country, issue date, original/certified-copy status, translation/legalisation question, validity window and secure delivery plan. | A foreign record is not automatically acceptable in form, age or authentication. |
| Sensitive disclosures | Minimum necessary medical, police, financial and family documents with access, consent, retention and transmission controls. | Do not circulate the whole family file to an employer, school, landlord or intermediary without a defined need. |
Character, administrative-fine, professional-sanction, medical, and insurance controls
RV37a asks about criminal charges or convictions, administrative fines other than traffic matters, and professional or regulatory sanctions involving dependants. Adult-addition checklists can also require police and medical records, while a parent or other adult dependant lane expressly includes health-insurance evidence. Prepare factual chronologies and current documents; do not minimize, diagnose or predict how an authority will assess them.
- For each event, keep the country, authority, date, allegation or offence, outcome, sentence or fine, current status and primary record.
- Confirm the current police-clearance issuing route, age limit, sealing/signature requirement and last-place-of-residence scope before ordering.
- Confirm whether the current medical declaration cover letter applies, its age limit and whether further examination or information is requested.
- For insurance, keep the proposed policy, insurer confirmation, exclusions, waiting periods, limits, effective-date condition and premium responsibility.
- If a record is disputed, spent, sealed, pending, foreign-language, incomplete or privacy-sensitive, obtain advice before answering or attaching it.
Accommodation, occupancy, lease, Land Register, and household consistency
The form asks about dwelling type, rooms, current occupants, sharing, ownership or rental, physical address, block and parcel, lease and landlord details. It also identifies supporting ownership evidence in specified family-owned arrangements. Its skip wording around the rental questions is internally awkward, so complete the housing lane from the live form and written instruction rather than guessing which field to omit.
| Housing record | Keep | Do not conclude |
|---|---|---|
| Home identity | Physical address, unit, district, block and parcel if relevant, dwelling type, bedrooms and shared-room arrangement. | That a large room count proves suitable or approved accommodation. |
| Occupancy | Every current resident, relationship, expected dependant, room-sharing plan and household-change date. | That a visitor, caregiver, tenant or family member can be omitted because the stay is informal. |
| Owned home | Current Land Register evidence where requested, owner identity and written living/contribution arrangement if a relative owns the property. | That possession, a utility bill or a family statement proves registered ownership. |
| Rented home | Lease parties, term, landlord identity and contacts, approved occupants and any written consent or occupancy confirmation needed. | That a lease automatically permits every proposed occupant or satisfies immigration review. |
Income, expenses, support, legal obligations, and dependant-cost planning
RV37a includes a monthly income-and-expense report and declarations about supporting the household and dependants. The checklist asks for employment letters and, for a parent or other adult dependant, evidence of both the dependant's and applicant's financial resources. Build a truthful household cash-flow file, but do not use this page to declare that the available income is legally sufficient.
- Reconcile salary, working hours, benefits, spouse/civil-partner income, regular support, bank evidence and current employment status.
- List rent or mortgage, utilities, food, transport, school, childcare, health insurance, medical, debt, maintenance and other recurring obligations.
- Preserve court orders, ancillary divorce records, child-support obligations and other legal financial commitments where relevant.
- Separate the application fee from possible approval, dependant, repatriation, insurance, school, medical, police and document costs.
- Keep one-income, job-change, unpaid-leave, currency, start-date and arrival-delay risks visible before the household depends on an approval.
Removing a dependant: evidence, timing, and continuity questions
Removal is not simply the reverse of adding a person. The RV37a checklist gives examples such as a death certificate, divorce decree or legal-separation document, but the correct evidence and effect depend on the actual reason, certificate and person. Preserve the event record, requested timing and written decision, and get advice on any residence, work, travel, school, insurance, custody, support or reapplication consequence.
| Removal trigger | Evidence lane | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Death | Official death record, identity match, certificate schedule, family contacts and related estate or insurance handoffs. | What notification and certificate update is required, and from what effective date? |
| Divorce, dissolution or separation | Court/registry record, effective date, custody and support record, residence/work position and professional advice. | Does the event require another immigration route or urgent status action? |
| Child or adult no longer accompanying | Residence, study, employment, independence, travel and household record, with the reason for removal. | Is removal required, optional, temporary, or connected to another application? |
| Error or changed plan | Original filing, issued certificate, correction chronology, evidence and written WORC response. | Can the record be corrected by RV37a, or is another process required? |
Completion, signatures, payment, submission, and decision closeout
The form instructs applicants not to leave blanks, to use N/A where appropriate, to add separate sheets when needed and to retain a copy. The checklist refers to applicant and, if applicable, employer signatures, while the reproduced declarations visibly include applicant and spouse fields. Resolve the signature set from the current live package and written instructions rather than inventing a signatory. Then retain one exact final file from payment through the updated certificate decision.
| Control | Keep | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Final form | Clean current RV37a, question-numbered continuation sheets, evidence index, version/date log and unresolved-issue list. | Do not merge answers from different revisions or leave ambiguous blanks. |
| Signatures | Applicant, spouse/civil partner and any employer signature specifically required by the current form/instruction, with dates. | Do not let an agent sign as the applicant or add a witness/notary requirement not stated for the document. |
| Payment and submission | Current fee confirmation, receipt, submission channel, cover letter, full attachments, sent/delivered record and acknowledgement. | A receipt or delivery message is not approval or proof the dependant is covered. |
| Decision closeout | Written decision, conditions, updated certificate/schedule, later fees, effective date, passport/travel record and downstream notifications. | Do not update school, insurer, employer or travel assumptions before the written outcome is understood. |
Professional-review, privacy, and no-outcome guardrails
This file can combine immigration, family, child, health, police, financial, insurance, education, housing and employment questions. Use a narrow issue list and verified practising professionals where the facts are not routine. A directory, introduction or consultation can help scope the handoff, but it does not endorse a provider, decide the variation or guarantee acceptance.
- Ask which current form, certificate category, evidence list, fee, signature set and submission channel apply before filing.
- Get Cayman immigration/family-law review where custody, consent, parentage, separation, divorce, death, support, adult dependency or surviving-spouse restrictions arise.
- Share only the minimum necessary child, medical, police, financial, school, court and household records through a secure agreed channel.
- Record who supplied each document, its issuer/date, whether it is original or certified, and who may retain it.
- No part of this checklist decides eligibility, financial sufficiency, dependant status, residence, work rights, effective date, document acceptance, removal consequence or outcome.
